Rolls Royce Merlin
This is the remains of a Rolls Royce Merlin 5 engine recovered from Hurricane I V6995 of 55OTU (Usworth). The Hurricane crashed on 12th March 1942 at White Herworth Farm, Wingate, Co Durham following a mid-air collision. The pilot Sgt Edward Grenville Shaw was killed.
